My work is about creating contemplative
space. I want the viewer to feel invited to enter the
image at leisure, not hurried or worried but relaxed.
Rest for a while. Sit and soak up the ambiance. Be
still in a place where the real and the symbolic become
one in the print, where a gateway opens to the many
layers of awareness.
I work with traditional methods, i.e.
film and an old fashioned wet darkroom. I am committed
to preserving the traditions of photography while at
the same time expressing my own ideas and visions.
I rarely plan to photograph a certain
scene or subject. I believe that prevision places my
intuition on a leash, restricting my inner vision.
My work evolves from what I call the spiritual geometry
of space, a sort of photographic feng shui or visual
meditation. Repetition within the print allows us to
escape reality for a place of wonder and contemplation,
to take a journey through a visual doorway that allows
us access to our innermost state of being.
